Date: September 8, 2023
Location: Ikuei-Nishi junior high school

Overview

We recently conducted a programming course for 1st and 2nd-year students at Ikuei Nishi Junior High School.

The 1st-year students were introduced to programming using a visual language called Scratch, and they began by developing a 'Nail Game.' Since it was the students' first encounter with programming, they faced some challenges and confusion at the beginning. However, when they saw their self-designed programs run successfully, they shared their accomplishments and celebrated. During times of difficulty, they helped each other and actively engaged in the learning process.

For 2nd-year students, this course involved the development of 'Animal Slots' using JavaScript, CSS, and HTML, which presented a more complex challenge due to working with three different programming languages. However, the students demonstrated extraordinary dedication, paying full attention to understanding the material and trying to grasp its intricacies.

This educational initiative aims to spark students' interest in programming, and we are delighted with the enthusiasm they have shown throughout the course (^^)
